GDF-8 (Myostatin)
Overview
GDF-8, better known as myostatin, is a secreted protein of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily and a central negative regulator of skeletal-muscle mass. As a recombinant protein fragment, it serves as a reference tool compound in muscle-biology research where the native regulator itself is the object of study.
